Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings thawed if using frozen
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp chipotle peppers in adobo sauce chopped
  • 1 tbsp adobo sauce from the can
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced or pre-minced garlic
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional garnishes:

  • Fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions

Prep the Chicken Wings:

  • Thaw the chicken wings if frozen and pat them dry with a paper towel. If you prefer, trim off excess skin, but leaving it on will add extra flavor.

Make the Sauce:

  • In a medium bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, chopped chipotle peppers, adobo sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, smoked paprika, and cumin. Stir well to mix.

Coat the Wings:

  • Add the wings to your Crockpot. Pour the sauce over them and toss to coat evenly. Make sure every wing is covered in that flavorful sauce.

Slow Cook the Wings:

  • Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours. Let them cook until they’re tender and falling off the bone.

Optional Crisping Step:

  • For crispy wings, preheat your broiler. Place the cooked wings on a baking sheet, drizzle with leftover sauce, and broil for 3-5 minutes. Keep an eye on them so they don’t burn, just a few minutes for that crispy finish!

Serve and Garnish:

  • Plate the wings and drizzle with any extra sauce. Garnish with fresh cilantro, lime wedges, and chopped green onions for a restaurant-worthy touch.

Notes

  • Make it Spicier: Add more chipotle peppers or a splash of hot sauce for extra heat.
  • Serve with a Side: Pair these wings with rice, mashed potatoes, or a simple salad to balance the spice.
  • Leftovers? Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days, or freeze for later!
