This Bhuna Gosht Recipe is more about the technique of roasting the mutton well in oil. With simple ingredients and method this recipe is really a delight to make and devour.

Ingredients

  • 500 gms mutton cut into small pieces
  • 1 cup oil
  • 4 green chilies slit
  • 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 2 onions finely sliced
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 2 to matoes finely chopped
  • 1 tsp black pepper crushed
  • 1 tbsp red chili flakes
  • 4 tbsp coriander leaves/cilantro chopped)
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a wok and add the green chili and onion. Fry till the onions turn translucent.
  • Once the onions are translucent, add the ginger garlic paste and fry for a minute till the raw smell evaporates from the ginger garlic paste
  • Now add in the mutton, salt, turmeric powder and fry really well till the mutton is brown in color.
  • Add the tomatoes, red chili flakes, garam masala powder black pepper and coriander leaves and cook on low heat till the mutton is tender and the tomatoes cooked. Keep stirring frequently to prevent the mutton from getting burnt from the bottom. If required add some water in between to prevent this. You can know whether the mutton is tender by pressing the mutton piece in between your fingers. You can switch it off when the mutton has achieved your desired tenderness. Your delicious bhuna gosht recipe is ready to serve.

Notes

1.The cooking time will vary depending on what cut of mutton you use, how heavy based your pot is and also how thick your cut of mutton is.
2.Remember to keep stirring it often as the masala might get burnt very easily and can burn the mutton from the bottom.
3.If you would like to add yogurt instead of tomatoes, its perfectly fine as this bhuna gosht recipe tastes often even with the use of yogurt.
