Lobia Recipe, Pakistani Lobia Masala Black Eyed Peas Curry
Lobia Recipe, Pakistani or the Black Eyed Peas Curry is a simple and tasty preparation. It tastes awesome with both rice and roti.
- 2 cups black eyed peas / lobia soaked overnight
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 green chili slit
- 2 onions finely sliced
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 2 to matoes finely chopped
- chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
- salt to taste
For the masala spice mix
- 3 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp ginger powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/8 tsp asafoetida / hing
Boil the black eyed peas / lobia in a pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles.
Heat oil in a pan and fry the onions till lightly brown.
Add the green chili, ginger garlic paste and fry for a minute.
Add in the chopped tomato and cook till tender.
Mix in the boiled lobia, salt and the masala spice mix and stir gently.
Add a cup of water and cook on low flame for 10-15 minutes and serve the lobia recipe hot garnished with coriander leaves.
