Karahi Gosht Recipe
A very popular recipe in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, Karahi or Kadhai Gosht Recipe is a delicious and easy to make dish. Karahi Gosht recipe is traditionally served in a wok like pan called karahi/kadhai, hence the name karahi/kadhai gosht. Serve it hot with peas pulao, khichdi or naan, it tastes amazing with a variety of dishes.
- 1 kg mutton cut into small pieces
- 1 cup oil
- 3 onions finely chopped
- 500 gms tomatoes finely chopped
- 1 tsp freshly crushed red chilies flakes
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp garam masala powder
- 4 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- handful of coriander leaves and mint leaves
- Salt to taste
Heat oil in a kadhai and add the onion and fry till it is half done and translucent.
Next add in the mutton pieces and fry for 20 minutes. Mutton will be brown and half cooked. Onion will be dissolved by this time in the mutton.
Add the ginger garlic paste and fry for further 2-3 minutes.
Mix in freshly crushed red chili powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder and garam masala powder. Stir well.
Add the tomatoes, coriander leaves, mint leaves and salt and allow to cook on low heat till the tomatoes are cooked and coated to the mutton. The mutton will be tender by now. Remove from heat. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves and ginger julienne.
Your delicious karahi gosht is ready to serve.
