Can I make the tandoori paneer tikka in an oven or microwave?

Yes, you can also make the paneer tikka in an oven or a microwave.

  • In Oven :  Marinate the paneer as per the below recipe. Bake for 15 minutes at 220 C/ 430 F in a pre-heated oven flipping them over at half way mark. Once they are baked, switch on the broiler for 2 to 3 minutes till the paneer has a slight char on top.

Pro Tips / Important things to remember while making the tandoori paneer tikka recipe

  1. The yogurt has to be really thick for any tikka recipes, if not you will have to hang it with a muslin cloth to drain the excess water. Otherwise, the water will keep dripping when you grill.
  2. Choose firm paneer and not the crumbly one. It will fall apart while grilling when you do so.
  3. Handle gently while turning over as the paneer would have turned soft and can break easily.
  4. For best results, marinate the paneer overnight or a minimum of 2 hours for the flavors to absorb.
  5. Be careful as to not to overcook the paneer tikka as it might turn rubbery and spongy.
  6. Adding some capsicum and onion squares serves great for the crunchy bite with the soft paneer.
