Do i use salted or unsalted butter?
Fa's Kitchen says
I have used the unsalted butter, Lisa. The salted version might just not be suitable for this milk powder burfi.
Cinthiya says
What milk powder did you use? 🙂
Fa's Kitchen says
I have used the brand “Anchor”.

Fati says
Can I use aptimal milk powder? Baby milk powder?
Fa's Kitchen says
Hi Fati,
Unfortunately I am not sure of the taste as I have never tried it with the formula. You can try it with Nido if that is available at the place you reside in.
FATIMA HUSSAIN says
hi, i wanted to know how many pieces, or people can this recipe feed as i wanted to make this for a eid party?
Fa's Kitchen says
Hi Fatima,
You can see the number and sizes of the burfi in the picture. That is about the entire quantity that I made from the measurements given in the recipe.
dan says
wow so awesome!!!
Fa's Kitchen says
thank u
Rachna says
Hi, is it possible for you to provide the quantities in grams rather than cups please?
Fa's Kitchen says
Hi Rachna,
I have used the measuring cup while using this recipe which is really fool-proof.
However 1 cup = approximately 225 gms. So that would be
225 gms milk powder
112 gms sugar
56 gms butter and milk
Or in other words, that would be 4:2:1:1
Hope this helps.
Manasa says
Can I use ghee instead of butter
Fa's Kitchen says
I guess you can melt the ghee and use it. But the milk powder burfi would taste best with the butter
Marium Hamid says
It is the simple barfi recipe. If I want to make with different flavors like mango. Can you tell me the quantity of the mango pulp.
Fa's Kitchen says
I have never tried with the mango. I have the mango coconut burfi on the blog, but never tried with the milk powder.
Reema says
Hi..
The recipe is so easy and barfi tastes yummy.
Just on the texture side mine came out a bit firm .. Why is that? Not sure if i over cooked / under cooked the mixture ..
Fa's Kitchen says
Hi Reema,
If it was firm, then in most probability, it was overcooked. I hope, next time, even the texture will be perfect. Do let me know the feedback next time you make it.
Neha says
hii.. can i get this recipe in grams?
Fa's Kitchen says
Hi Neha,
I have used the measuring cup while using this recipe which is really fool-proof.

Saritha says
Wow! This definitely lived up to its name – so simple and super quick to make! It’s cooling at the moment so I don’t know what the texture will be like but I already ate half of it while warm… tastes so good.. Perfect recipe to whip up while my baby has a quick nap 🙂
Fa's Kitchen says
Hi Saritha,
I guess by now, it must have been finished. I am glad you liked it, and hope it turned out the best after cooling. Do try other recipes and lemme know your feedback.

Fa's Kitchen says
Hi Julie,
I hope it turns out well. I will be waiting for the feedback with bated breadth.
Devika Ramachandran says
Hi,
This recipe didn’t turn out well, it had become too hard like rock candy. May be it was over cooked. But i kept stirring till the butter seperated but it never happened… can u mention how long we should cook.
Fa's Kitchen says
That is really surprising. You must have cooked it for really too long. I guess it would hardly take between 2 to 5 minutes once the sugar is melted.
Rachna says
Hi, I have made this a few times and it’s always been liked. How much cocoa powder to put in to make this into a chocolate burfi?
Fa's Kitchen says
Thank you so much Rachna. I am so happy that your family enjoys the milk powder burfi. I have not tried the chocolate burfi with cocoa powder as yet. Hope to be of help in future.
fahmida says

Ayana says
Hi I tried this recipe just couple of minutes ago and I hope it sets because my mixture was still not too lumpy but thick and I was scared to over cook it,I just hope it sets properly.
Fa's Kitchen says
Hi Ayana, keeping the fingers crossed. I hope it has set perfectly. It should just form a lump which shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes. Do let me know how it has turned out.
Ayana says
Thank you heaps, turned out the way I wanted, nice and moist and perfectly set,it’s not even hard but soft,I have already cut it in cubes and placed it in air tight containers,do you think it will get hard after placing it in containers or will it remain like that which I would prefer.
Fa's Kitchen says
You are most welcome Ayana. They might turn little hard on outer part if you keep them for extended amount of time. But I have never had success to check this myself, as whenever I make this burfi, they get finished before the burfi makes it to the air tight container. 😉
Bluesandy16 says
Hi! Would it be OK to use Regular Milk instead of powdered milk, as I don’t have any powdered milk.
Fa's Kitchen says
Hi Bluesandy!
As this is a milk powder burfi, the measurements will not be right for the regular milk.
Julie says
I would like to try this with the rosewater that you mentioned.
How much would I use and when would I add it ?
Thank you in advance.
Fa's Kitchen says
Just half a teaspoon should be enough. And you can add in when you add the milk powder. Hope you enjoy the Milk Powder Burfi.
Nazrin says
What milk should we use? Fresh milk?
Fa's Kitchen says
You should only use the milk powder, Nazrin
Sowmya says

You mention in the instructions that the saffron is soaked. What do you soak it in and how long do you soak it?
Fa's Kitchen says
you can soak the saffron in 2 to 3 tbsps of hot milk for about 10 minutes.
Mani says
My burfi became hard. Any suggestions? It’s hard and chewy
Fa's Kitchen says
Hi Mani,
I think you might have overcooked them.
Fory says
Thank you, for the recipe looks great
Fa's Kitchen says
You are most welcome. Do try and lemme know how it turns out.
Anisa says
Salaam Fareeha. Thank you and jazakAllah for the lovely recipe! I’m asking a silly question here but would just like some clarity… When u said ‘powdered sugar,’ do u mean icing sugar OR caster sugar? Icing sugar is used for topping on cakes, and it DOES set firmly. Caster sugar is fine, soft sugar and is used inside cake batter mixture, it does NOT set firm.
Sorry, it’s my first time to make burfi. I ask you ‘the expert’ for your tip, instead of me just messing up an easy-to-make recipe…lol. Please Fa, tell us which type of sugar would be good here. Many thanks!! Anisa
Fa's Kitchen says
I am really very sorry for the delay in replying. What I meant by the powdered sugar is that to powder whatever sugar you have at home. I use the raw sugar and hence prefer to dry grind to make a fine powder at home itself, with the help of a coffee grinder.
Annalize says
Good day
What type of milk powder should i use to make burfi??
Fa's Kitchen says
I have used the normal Nido brand of milk powder

Marie says
Hello,
I tried making this recipe today. Taste wise it is good. A little too sweet for me. Will reduce the sugar quantity next time.
My question to you is do you cook it on very low flame? I did and it took me forever (lol) it’s color turned brown, and so I finally just took it off the flame.
Thanks for sharing.
Fa's Kitchen says
I cook on medium heat. I hope it turns out well next time.
Marie says
Can you also confirm if it is unsalted or salted butter because somewhere in the comments you mentioned unsalted while your recipe says butter.
Thanks again.
Fa's Kitchen says
It is unsalted butter.. Thanks for pointing out.
