Rhodes Stitch is made with a series of straight stitches. The stitches overlap each other and give an awesome finished look. You can work any kind of shapes with it.

It can be a great filling stitch that would really awesome with any design. The way this stitch forms it’s designed in the center really looks impressive. (Zolpidem) The technique is so simple but leaves a very elegant look for the viewers.

What you will need?

  • Any fabric.
  • Embroidery hoop, 15cm (6″) (Bigger if you are working on a larger design) ( You can purchase a set of 6 hoops from Amazon for your basic needs.)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Embroidery thread (You can buy this pack of 36 shades of the DMC embroidery floss.)

How many strands of floss do you need for making the Rhodes stitch?

You can use all 6 strands of the floss. But if you are working on a finer design, then start with 2 strands of floss and increase the number of strands according to your design.

Step by Step Pictorial Process of making the Rhodes stitch

1. In this tutorial, I have worked in a square. Always start from the corner for this stitch. Start by bringing the thread up at point A. Insert the needle from point B to Point C. Bring the thread out.

2. Again insert from point D and bring it out at point E.

3. Similarly, insert from the points next to each other. Keep working in similarly till the end of the pattern.

Tips for working the Rhodes stitch

  • You can draw any shape and start from the middle of the design.

What is this stitch used for?

  • It is a great filling design.
  • This stitch can be made into a square, rectangle, heart, circle or oval.
