Not to be confused with the chicken drumsticks which are widely popular over the world. Rather it is a vegetable which is long, slender and thin with pods in it.

The moringa is known by various names as soajna in North India, sojni ki phalli in Hyderabad,  murungakkai in Tamil Nadu, munagakaya in Andhra and in our home we call in munge ki phalli. Drumsticks are used widely in various types of recipes like sambars, kormas, soups, dal or dalcha.

Even the drumstick  leaves are used in cooking and are very tasty and healthy. We had a drumstick tree in our grandmother’s home in Andhra. I remember the kids climbing on it to pluck the fresh drumstick and its leaves for cooking. But later the tree was cut down and that was the end of it.

The Mutton Drumsticks recipe, murungakkai mutton kuzhambu is a very favorite veg and non veg combination of South India and especially in Andhra and Tamil Nadu. This is regularly made at my home. And is done so by most of my relatives in both Andhra and Tamil nadu.

Mutton Drumsticks recipe

Munge ki phalli is one of my favorite vegetable and mutton combination. The mutton drumsticks recipe is really a must try if you have never tasted it. There are hardly any restaurants which serve the mutton drumsticks recipe, but luckily enough we find good drumsticks in the market here to make it at home.

We need to scrape the outer peel of the drumstick and cut it into 5-6 cm long sticks. Make the mutton base and later cook the drumsticks in it. And enjoy the delicious mutton drumsticks recipe.
