Few things to remember

You can make the moong dal khichdi rice with either basmati rice or the normal rice. It tastes best with both. However, do not skip the ghee. The ghee totally elevates the flavor and enhances it’s taste like no other ingredient.

You can even prepare the khichdi in the rice cooker. All you will have to do is simply make the masala, and simply add it to the rice cooker along with rice.

You can prepare this dish when you have sudden guests at home and you are at a loss what to cook. Simply whip up some khichdi in no time at all and serve it along with some mint chutney and some papad. You can even serve with some Chicken Korma or Mutton Korma.

  • whole garam masala 1 inch stick cinnamon, 3 cardamom, 3 cloves
  • 1 big onion finely chopped
  • 2 green chilli
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

  • Adding the mint leaves gives a good flavor and aroma to this dish, so do not skip it.
  • You can make the moong dal khichdi in a rice cooker as well. Fry the onions and add the masala to the rice cooker with water.
