Mango Shrikhand or amrakhand recipe is a delicious dessert made with yogurt and mango.
You must have all heard about the popular shrikhand. This is a great twist to it. Adding the mango to the shrikhand takes it to altogether another level.
When the mangoes are in season, there is no chance that we could miss this delicacy. After all, the mango season comes once in a year. We have to utilize the season to the best of our ability.
As for me, I love to make various mango recipes during this season. Whether it is mango mutton recipe, mango dal recipe or the aam ka panna, you will almost find some mango dish or the other in my kitchen daily.
Did I forget to mention the healthy mango popsicles or the mamidi tandra. Yes, there are quite a lot of mango recipes on my blog.
Coming back to our today’s recipe, the mango shrikhand or the amrakhand, it is very very simple to make. All you have to do is mix the hung curd with some mango puree. That’s it. Rest of the ingredients are variable. You will have to add the sugar depending upon the sweetness of the mango.
If your mango is too sweet, you can omit the sugar. And the nuts and the chopped mango are simply an addition to elevate that taste.
You can use any mango that you love. For this recipe I have added the malgova variety.
I have also shown in the video below how to make the hung curd. It is very simple. I like to simply keep it on a strainer and refrigerate it overnight. By morning we get the perfect hung curd.
There are so many recipes that can be done with this hung curd. The shikampuri kebab is just one of them.

Ingredients
- 2 cups yogurt
- 1 cup mango puree
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- 1 tbsp powdered sugar adjust according to the sweetness of the mango
- 1 tbsp nuts
- 2 tbsp chopped mango
Instructions
- Keep a strainer over a bowl. Place a muslin cloth or a handkerchief over it. Now pour the yogurt and tie the cloth. Place this in the refrigerator overnight.
- You will find all the water would have drained and your hung curd is ready.
- Take the hung curd in a bowl, add the mango puree, cardamom powder and powdered sugar. Whisk well till there are no lumps in it.
- Mix in the nuts and chopped mango.
- Refrigerate till serving time.
- Serve chilled garnished with more nuts and mango pieces.
Notes
Keep the yogurt refrigerated while making the hung curd prevents it from turning sour.
Adjust the sugar according to the sweetness of your mango and your preference.
You can even freeze it and enjoy a healthy and delicious ice cream.
