By Fareeha Leave a Comment October 27, 2019

Detached Chevron Stitch is part of the Chevron Stitch family. If you have already tried the chevron stitch, then this stitch will be a piece of cake for you. It is just one chevron without continuing with the rest of the stitch.

What you will need?

  • Any fabric.
  • Embroidery hoop, 15cm (6″) (Bigger if you are working on a larger design) ( You can purchase a set of 6 hoops from Amazon for your basic needs.)
  • Tapestry needle
  • Embroidery thread (You can buy this pack of 36 shades of the DMC embroidery floss.)

How many strands of floss do you need for making the Detached Chevron Stitch?

You can use all 6 strands of the floss. But if you are working on a finer design, then start with 2 strands of floss and increase the number of strands according to your design. I have used all 6 strands of floss for this design.

Step by Step Pictorial Process of making the Detached Chevron Stitch

starting on the detached chevron

1. You can make 2 parallel lines to work this stitch or just make it without the need of the lines, as this is pretty easy to work on. Bring the thread up at point A on the bottom line and insert the needle from point B to Point C on the upper line. Pull the thread.

2. Take the needle on the other side from point D to point B.

3. Finally, take it down at point E and secure with a knot.

Tips for working the Detached Chevron Stitch

What is this stitch used for?

  • This stitch can be used along with embellishments to get beautiful designs.
